The set for when jeans won't do and a dress feels like too much: a one-shoulder top with a long diagonal drape, and wide-leg trousers in the same fabric. In blue, burgundy and caramel.

Why it works

One shoulder bare, the other finished with a small twisted fold: simple, never plain.
Soft gathers at one side of the waist and a hem that runs on the diagonal to the upper thigh: the drape skims your middle instead of clinging to it.
The trousers fall straight and wide from the hip, with side pockets for your hands.
The two pieces work apart too: the top with dark jeans, the trousers with a fine knit.

Fabric and care. A textured, linen-look fabric with a fine slub and a soft sheen, 95% polyester and 5% elastane, so it gives a little. Not see-through, as stated by the maker. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colours; do not bleach or dry clean. Hang to dry and cool iron if needed.

Fit and length. The top is cut close and the sizes run small, so go by the size guide rather than the size you usually buy. The top is 48 cm long in a S and 52 cm in a 2XL, with the draped side falling lower; the trousers are 102 cm long in a S and 106 cm in a 2XL. Our model is 172 cm (5'8") and wears an M.
